As Chief of Hospital Medicine programs at Duke University Health System (DUHS), my primary responsibility is leadership of a team of physician and administrative leaders that positively impact the strategies, goals, and objectives of Hospital Medicine at our three hospitals. I am responsible for oversight of various programs that focus on excellence in clinical care, patient safety and quality, clinical education, and academics. I report to the DUHS Chief Medical Officer, General Internal Medicine (GIM) Division Chief as well as Department of Medicine (DOM) Chair. Our Hospital Medicine Section is an essential component of the academic division of General Internal Medicine. This last year our programs at the three hospitals generated a combined 107,428 patient encounters. Our programs have 99+ hospital medicine physicians, 3 APPs, 6 Associate level Hospital Medicine Directors and 8 administrative staff. Our website is http://hospital.medicine.duke.edu/
July 2014 I was chosen as Associate Chief Medical Officer for Duke University Hospital.
