Kimberly Johnson, MD, associate professor of medicine (Geriatrics) and co-dreictor of the Duke CTSA KL2 Program, will lead an information session on the Duke CTSA KL2 at 5 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 15 in Duke Medicine Pavilion Room 2W96. All who are considering applying for the upcoming funding period and those interested in applying in future years are invited to attend.
During the session Dr. Johnson will discuss eligibility requirements for the KL2 program; goals, structure and major components of the KL2 program; application and review process; structured programs to assist you with developing a competitive application.
The Duke CTSA KL2 is a mentored research career development program for junior faculty and fellows transitioning to faculty positions who are conducting clinical and translational research. Scholars are awarded 75% protected effort for 3 years, $20,000/year for research expenses, and $2,500/year for travel to professional meetings. PLEASE NOTE THAT FUNDING IS CONTINGENT UPON CTSA AWARD.
The next round of applications will be due on Dec. 15, 2017, with a July 2018 start date. Three new scholars will be selected. An important goal of the CTSA KL2 is to increase the diversity of the research workforce. The program has committed to supporting at least 50% under-represented minorities with the KL2.
