1/24/13: Lunchtime Grand Rounds on Autoimmune Encephalitis

Come hear a captivating story from Susannah Cahalan, author of "Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness," and learn about interdisciplinary efforts at Duke to treat autoimmune brain disorders from a pediatric neurologist, a pediatric rheumatologist and a medical psychiatrist. The event will be held Thurs., Jan. 24 from 12-1 p.m. in Duke Hospital Room 2002. Panelists will include:
  • Susannah Cahalan, New York Post journalist and author
  • William Gallentine, DO, assistant professor of pediatrics (Neurology) and co-director of the Duke Children's Autoimmune Brain Disease Program
  • Heather Van Mater, MD, assistant professor of pediatrics (Rheumatology) and co-director of the Duke Children's Autoimmune Brain Disease Program
  • Xavier Preud'Homme, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences and assistant professor of medicine
This Grand Rounds Lecture is hosted by Helen Egger, MD, chief of the Division of Child and Family Mental Health, and co-sponosored by the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and the Department of Pediatrics.
