1/25/16: Integrating Research into a Busy Clinical Practice

Duke Community and Family Medicine invites faculty, staff and students in the schools of medicine and nursing to a special Grand Rounds from noon to 1 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 25 in Hanes House Room 131.

Mack Ruffin, IV, MD, MPH, professor and associate chair for research programs in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, will present “Integrating Research into a Busy Clinical Practice.” 

Dr. Ruffin is a practicing family physician and his main research focus is cancer prevention and early detection. Dr. Ruffin received an undergraduate degree from Duke University in biomedical engineering.

Ruffin will discuss how clinicians can integrate research into a busy practice. His talk will focus on:

  • Research and QI
  • Making it fun and part of the culture
  • Training the current and next generation
  • Devoting core time and resources
  • Involving the entire patient team
