Joanna Mountain, MD, assistant professor of anthropological sciences, will present "Personal Genomics: The Challenges and Potential of Direct to Consumer Testing" on Thurs., April 14th from 11am-noon. Dr. Mountain is the senior director of research at 23andMe, Inc., a personal genetics and biotechnology company developing new methods and technologies to enable customers to understand their genetic information. She joined 23andMe from Stanford University where, as a faculty member in the Anthropological Sciences and Genetics Department, she specialized in human evolutionary genetics. Dr. Mountain received her Ph.D. degree in Genetics from Stanford in 1994. This event will be held in Perkins Library 216 and is co-sponsored by Duke Institute for Genome Sciences and Policy.
