5/17/18: Taking Care in Academics: Faculty Wellbeing and Vitality

The School of Medicine Professional Development Seminar Series will offer a session on Taking Care in Academics: Faculty Wellbeing and Vitality, Thursday, May 17, from 1:30-3 p.m. in Christine Siegler Pearson Building (School of Nursing), Room 1014.

The session will be led Jeffery Ring, PhD, Principal Consultant at Health Management Associates, Inc., a health psychologist and executive leadership coach, who assists leaders and teams in productive functioning toward effectiveness and competitive advantage. Jeffrey is a champion for healthcare practitioner vitality, and is skilled in supporting teams in mindful reflection on creative approaches to self-care and wellness enhancement. He often presents at AAMC conferences around the US.

This interactive presentation will highlight ways to support practitioner vitality at the Duke. Ring's discussion will focus on identifying potential threats to personal wellbeing and enhancing meaningful, mindful, collaborative and sustained practices to maintain fulfillment at work. Attendees of this hands-on discussion will leave with tools for mindful, positive, long-lasting impact on their day-to-day life and those around them.

Who should Attend? This seminar’s content will be geared toward Duke SOM Faculty who are involved in clinical care. Others are welcome as space allows.
