8 senior residents match to GIM fellowship positions

The 2016-17 fellowship match took place Wednesday, December 6, 2017. This year there was a record breaking number of Duke Internal Medicine residents who matched with fellowships in General Internal Medicine.

"We are proud to have had so many Duke Internal Medicine residents - the most in one class in my memory - continue academic training in GIM," says David Edelman, MD, who leads the DGIM Faculty and Fellowship Development. Four of these residents will continue their training in a Palliative Care fellowship, while the other four will pursue research or hospitalist fellowships.

Palliative Care Fellows

"We’re delighted that so many Duke residents are choosing palliative care—that bodes well for the future of the field," says David Casarett, MD, Chief of Palliative Care at Duke.

Edelman tells us they are especially excited to be adding Dr. Sloan to their research group and knows that Drs. Machen, Nouri, and Sterken will receive outstanding training at UCSF.
