Friday will be a particularly busy day in the Department of Medicine. The Department will host two conferences and two of its centers will mark anniversaries with seminars and celebrations.

Medicine Research Seminar Series
Medicine Research Conference kicks off a new year with a new name. This seminar series meets the last Friday of the month September-May. Susanna Naggie, MD, associate professor of medicine (Infectious Diseases), will present at Friday's meeting. Her topic is "HCV, Inflammation, and Cellular Aging: Can we turn back time?" Research Seminar Series begins promptly at noon in Duke North Room 2002. Lunch is provided.
Celebrations
The Center for the Study of Aging and Human Development, led by Harvey Cohen, MD, professor of medicine (Geriatrics), marks its 60th anniversary on Friday with a program and reception. Duke President, Richard Brodhead, PhD, Chancellor for Health Affairs Eugene Washington, MD, PhD, School of Medicine Dean Nancy Andrews, MD, PhD, and School of Nursing Dean Marion Broome, PhD, will share remarks.
Stephanie Studenski, MD, MPH, senior investigator chief, Longitudinal Studies Section, National Institute on Aging, will present the Maddox Keynote Lecture. Her topic is "A longitudinal perspective on longitudinal studies of aging."
DUPAC marks 40 years
Duke Heart Center and the Department of Medicine will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Duke University’s Preventive Approach to Cardiology(DUPAC) with an afternoon symposium on Friday in the Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Center for Health Education.
Former DUPAC Director Steven Roark, MD, will present the keynote address, "Microsoft, SNL and DUPAC - Think, Laugh, and Live." Dr. Roark is currently a cardiologist at the Cardiac and Vascular Institute in Gainseville, Florida.
