Joe Doty, the vice chair for administration in the Department of Medicine since 2010, will leave Duke in February to take an executive role at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
"Joe has been a stellar leader at Duke," said Mary Klotman, MD, chair of the Department. "I am extremely grateful for his exceptional service to the Department."
Doty assisted Dr. Klotman in strengthening the business and administrative functions of the department. He worked closely with division chiefs and administrators, and the other department vice chairs, to keep the department functioning smoothly, and improving daily.
"In the process, Joe has set a new standard for administrative leadership and success, at Duke and nationally," said Dr. Klotman. "He is highly regarded here, and the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine recognized Joe with the 2015 AIM Distinguished Service Award, reflecting his professional service to the alliance as well as his personal commitment to his fellow administrators."
Joe’s last day at Duke will be Feb. 12.
