By ajz6@dhe.duke.edu
Medicine Grand Rounds was presented this morning by Deverick Anderson, MD, MPH, associate professor of medicine and chair of Duke University Hospital Antimicrobial Stewardship Evaluation Team, and Rebekah Moehring, MD, MPH, medical instructor (Infectious Diseases). They discussed Antimicrobial Stewardship at Duke University Hospital, and provided a case as a way to discuss the various issues involved with the use of antibiotics and other therapies. View the archived video of their presentation at http://bit.ly/RSlrBP. The case presentation, given by Kristen Dicks, MD, second-year fellow in the Division of Infectious Diseases, ended with three questions to ponder. Here are the answers: [toggle title_open="Close Me" title_closed="What was the diagnosis?" hide="yes" border="yes" style="default" excerpt_length="0" read_more_text="Read More" read_less_text="Read Less" include_excerpt_html="no"]Congestive heart failure[/toggle] [toggle title_open="Close Me" title_closed="What was the correct duration of antimicrobial therapy for this patient?" hide="yes" border="yes" style="default" excerpt_length="0" read_more_text="Read More" read_less_text="Read Less" include_excerpt_html="no"]Zero[/toggle] [toggle title_open="Close Me" title_closed="Could the C. difficile have been prevented?" hide="yes" border="yes" style="default" excerpt_length="0" read_more_text="Read More" read_less_text="Read Less" include_excerpt_html="no"]Yes[/toggle]
