Archibald promoted to Assistant Professor

We are pleased to announce the promotion of one of our faculty members, Dr. Andrea Archibald,  to Assistant Professor, effective March 1, 2020.

Dr. Archibald has been a Medical Instructor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Duke since 2017, where her primary clinical duties have been with the Hospital Medicine Division. She has taught numerous medical students, physician assistant students, current practicing physician assistants, residents and physician re-entry candidates during their Internal Medicine inpatient experiences. She has consistently been rated highly by learners and has been actively involved in improving the educational experience of the students and residents on the general medicine rotation at Duke Regional Hospital by leading a project aimed at improving triage abilities of residents as well as improving the breadth of patient exposure and resident satisfaction on this rotation. Dr. Archibald is a high performer in the quality of care metrics. For her clinical excellence, she was awarded the Isaac Manning Hall, Jr Award for Excellence in Patient Care and has been nominated for the Partners in Practice Award by the Duke Regional Nursing staff. Her research interests include improving the medical education experience for both residents and students, improving prescribing practices and treatment of pain and substance abuse in the inpatient setting, improving care for individuals with complex medical and psychosocial needs and expanding the role of the Physician Advisor.
