Berg elected to leadership role in organ sharing network

Carl Berg, MDCarl Berg, MD, professor of medicine (Gastroenterology) and medical director of abdominal transplantation, was elected the next vice president of the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). UNOS is the private, non-profit organization that manages the nation's organ transplant system under contract with the federal government. His new role, effective July 2013, will be followed by a year as president and then a year as past president. "I look forward to having a major impact on the field of solid organ transplant in the United States over the next three years," said Dr. Berg. "I hope that my role will reflect well on our transplant group here at Duke."
