Duke Primary Care at Pickett Road sees a wide range of patients, from young university students to elderly patients from nearby retirement communities. Pickett Road is staffed by seven attending physicians, one physician assistant and 22 residents; in addition to nurses, LPNs, medical assistants, and clinical support staff. As Medical Director, Dr. Bruce Peyser has led the clinic to Excellence in Diabetes and Hypertension, and Residency Site Director Dr. Sharon Rubin leads the ambulatory attendings in teaching Primary Care Medicine.
Residents play an integral role at Pickett Road. Residents have their own panels and take an active role in caring for their patients; feedback and observed practice are also emphasized. View the short video below to learn more about this teaching clinic.
