DGIM Promotions - November 2019

Congratulations to the following faculty members who have been promoted to Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, effective November 1, 2019:​

  • Sophia Califano, MD, MPH - Primary Care, Durham VA
    Dr. Califano completed residency at the University of Michigan and later served as chief medical resident. Following this, she completed a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and a residency in Preventive Medicine at University of North Carolina. She is an academic primary care physician at the Durham VA and also serves as Deputy Chief Consultant for Preventive Medicine for the National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NCP). 

  • Dana Clifton, MD - Hospitalist, Duke University Hospital
    Dr. Clifton trained in the combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency Program at Duke. In 2016, she was appointed as a Medical Instructor in Duke Hospital Medicine, with a joint secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Clifton is a valued clinician educator, a scholar in quality improvement, and leader in medical education.

  • Eric Pollak, MD - Hospitalist, Duke University Hospital
    Dr. Pollak trained as a resident in Duke Internal Medicine, then continued in 2016 as a hospitalist in Duke University Hospital. He is known for curriculum development including implementation of a unique peer evaluation process.

  • John Yeatts, MD, MPH - Hospitalist, Duke University Hospital
    Dr. Yeatts trained as a resident in Duke Internal Medicine and participated in the Duke Management and Leadership Pathway for Residents (MLPR). Dr. Yeatts continues to address ways to generate academic product from the innovative value-based initiatives taking place across the health system.
