Congratulations to Dr. Noel Ivey and Dr. Jenny Van Kirk for promotion to Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine, effective November 1, 2020!
- Noel Ivey, MD - Hospitalist, Duke University Hospital
Dr. Ivey, originally from Boone, NC, graduated from Davidson College. After medical school at UNC she completed residency at the Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Ivey worked for several years as a staff hospital physician at the Charles George Veterans Affairs Hospital (CGVAMC) in Asheville, NC before joining the faculty at Duke University Hospital in June 2017. She has an interest in quality improvement and has been an avid contributor to the American College of Physicians. Dr. Ivey has not only provided basic medical educational activities to learners, but has also received additional training in physician wellness to promote the resiliency of her peers at Duke. Dr. Ivey is a committed leader in quality improvement, an advocate for internists around the state, a teacher and a valuable asset to Duke’s Faculty.
- Jenny Van Kirk, MD - Hospitalist, Duke University Hospital
Dr. Van Kirk received her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and trained in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Duke. In addition to her focus on quality improvement and curriculum development, Dr. Van Kirk has excelled as a clinician educator. She works on the general medicine inpatient service, including both teaching with house staff and students and direct care teams. Dr. Van Kirk also has specialty training as a procedural hospitalist. During the 2018-2019 academic year, she served as a Chief Resident for our Internal Medicine Residency Program. She was selected as Associate Clerkship Director in Medicine as well as the Sub-Internship Director in Internal Medicine and has served in these roles since July 2019. Furthermore, Dr. Kirby was named an Assistant Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency, where she helps oversee the inpatient rotations.
