Division of Gastroenterology holds first GI Research Night

The Division of Gastroenterology hosted its first GI Research Night on April 12. The event included a poster session with 40 participants. Posters were judged by a panel of GI faculty, including Stan Branch, Rebecca Burbridge, Anna Mae Diehl, Katie Garman, Rodger Liddle, Paul Jowell, and Dan Wild.

Best poster by a fellow in basic/translational research:   

Kai Yuan Chen (mentor Xiling Shen) for "A Notch positive feedback controlling stem cell self-renewal in the intestinal stem cell niche."

Best poster by a fellow in clinical research:

Yuval Patel (mentor Andrew Muir) for "The impact of HLA serotyping and HLA matching for PSC, PSC/AIH, AIH ,PBC/AIH and PBC patients on post-liver transplant graft failure."

Best poster by a resident:

Kara Wegermann (mentor Cindy Moylan) for "BCAT1 is associated with clinical development of decompensation in NAFLD: a pilot study."

Best poster by a medical or graduate student:

Nikolai Rakhilin (mentor Xiling Shen) for "Visualizing a changing colon environment.'
