DoM faculty, trainees to present at ASCO's Quality Care Symposium Nov. 1-2

This weekend a number of Department of Medicine faculty and trainees will be participating in the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Quality Care Symposium, which brings together leaders in the field to share new strategies, methods, and technologies for measuring and improving the quality of cancer care. Here's a list of those who will be representing Duke:

• "Developing a virtual collaborative to facilitate palliative care and quality improvement learning in oncology." Kamal, McNiff, Prestrud, Lupu, Zafar, Gavigan, Schilsky, Abernethy.
• "What type of feedback to clinicians best improves conformance to supportive care quality measures?" Kamal, Bull, Stinson, Nicolla, Adams, Kelly, Abernethy.
• "Identifying benchmarks for ASCO Choosing Wisely Measures that address low value imaging in early-stage prostate and breast cancer." Power, Marcom, Bitting, Kamal.
• "Consensus development: Within general oncology practice, what constitutes high quality palliative care delivery?" Bickel, McNiff, Malin, Abernethy, Acheson, Shapiro, Evans, Kamal, Buss, Lupu, Broder, Krzyzanowska.
• "Comparison of QOPI measure conformance between oncology fellows and attending physicians." Zhang, Kamal, Kelley.

Christine Bestvina, MD, junior assistant resident, will give an oral presentation: "Patient-oncologist cost communication, financial distress, and medication adherence."
