Don't forget: Special event January 12, 2018 will honor Rev. Martin Luther King, highlight health disparities research at Duke

The Department of Medicine Chair’s Office and Minority Recruitment and Retention Committee, School of Medicine Office for Diversity and Inclusion, and School of Nursing are co-sponsoring a special event on Friday, January 12, 2018, to highlight health disparities research at Duke University. The event will be held in honor of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Dr. Kimberly Johnson

The event will begin with Medicine Grand Rounds at 8 a.m. Kimberly Johnson, MD, associate professor of medicine (Geriatrics), will present "REACH Equity: Responding to the 'Fierce urgency of now.'"

REACH Equity is a new health disparities research center at Duke, focused on interventions to improve the quality of clinical encounters. Learn more about the REACH Equity grant.

Find a collaborator

After the grand rounds presentation, brief presentations by disparities researchers will highlight opportunities for collaboration. A reception follows with time for mingling and finding your future collaborator.

In the afternoon, Dr. Johnson will be available for one-on-one meetings to discuss your ideas and opportunities for disparities research.

This event is open to Duke faculty, trainees, and students, and will be of interest to those who are actively involved in, or interested in, health disparities research. Funding opportunity

REACH Equity is seeking applications for a mentored research career development award (CDA) for junior faculty. The center plans to award six CDAs this cycle. Application deadline is February 1, 2018. Find details here.
