Duke Box cloud storage service now available to Duke Medicine users

By admin2
Beginning this summer, Duke faculty, students and staff can use a new Box service for cloud storage and content collaboration across the university and health system. Box provides a simple and secure way for users to store and share files online. Files can be shared with Duke and non-Duke users, and all files stored in Box are securely accessible anywhere, anytime, and from any device with an Internet connection. Duke’s Box service is the only cloud storage service approved for storing Duke files containing sensitive or restricted data, including protected health information. Duke Medicine users must complete online training before being given a Duke Box account. Once you complete the training, you will receive notification of your Box account provisioning within a few hours. If you already have a Duke Box account, you’ll be given the sensitive data folder required for use of Duke restricted data. To complete the training:
  1. Visit the learning management system (LMS) and log in with your NetID and password.
  2. On the home page, go the Catalog Search box, enter "box" and click Search.
  3. Click the blue Register link for the course entitled "Using BOX for Sensitive Data."
  4. The course should auto launch. If not, click the Launch Content link.
  5. View all the slides and pass with 80 percent or above to complete the course.
  6. If you don’t finish the course in one session, you can complete it at a later time. When you log back into the LMS, look for In-Progress Learning, and click on the Launch button next to the class title to restart where you left off.
Box users are subject to the data-sharing restrictions outlined by the Duke University and Duke Medicine security policies, and Duke users are responsible for ensuring that data stored or shared in Box complies with all university and health system security policies.
