The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, the largest and most influential palliative care physician membership organization in the US, has released a list of Inspiring Leaders Under 40 for the field.
Eligible candidates were evaluated on the following criteria: involvement in AAHPM, educating others about hospice and palliative medicine, participation in charitable work, mentoring of students or residents, and any special circumstances or professional accomplishments that set them apart.
Four Duke junior faculty were recognized:
- Thomas LeBlanc, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Hematological Malignancies and Cellular Therapy)
- Jason Webb, MD, medical instructor (General Internal Medicine)
- Christopher Jones, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Geriatrics)
- Arif Kamal, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Medical Oncology)
