Funding opp: Innovative educational projects in internal medicine

The North Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians (NC-ACP) Council has approved funding for innovative projects to promote the broad goals of the ACP in medical student and residency education. Grants will be made for up to $5,000/year with the stipulation that all awardees agree to present a progress report to the NC-ACP membership at the annual winter NC-ACP scientific meeting (the next meeting is February 28 - March 1, 2014 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC). Proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee including the NC-ACP Governor and Drs. Bryan, Chelminski and Lichstein.  Priority will be given to projects that promote:
  • Selection by medical students of residency training in Internal Medicine
  • Choice of primary or generalist careers by internal medicine house staff
  • Professionalism and humanism in medicine
  • Patient safety
  • High value/cost conscious care
  • Quality improvement
  • Patient-centered outcomes
  • Patient activation and self-management
  • Acquisition of clinical skills
  • Evidence based medicine
  • Process improvements in clinical care and transitions
