Medicine Grand Rounds on Fri., Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. in Duke Hospital room 2002 will feature Charles Fuchs, MD, MPH, chief of the Division of Gastrointestinal Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Robert T. and Judith B. Hale Chair in Pancreatic Cancer and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Fuchs will present Leveraging Cohort Studies to Define New Paradigms in Colorectal Cancer Treatment and Prevention. At the invitation of Jeff Clarke, MD, former chief resident for Duke University Hospital and Hematology/Oncology fellow, Fuchs is visiting Duke as the Greenfield Visiting Professor.
Over the past two decades, Fuchs’ career has focused on the prevention, biology, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, as a researcher, clinician, and educator. His research endeavors have been divided between both laboratory-based investigation and clinical research. Fuchs’ laboratory focuses on biochemical markers of gastrointestinal cancer risk, molecular predictors of patient prognosis in colorectal and pancreatic cancers, and the discovery of novel targets for cancer therapy. Fuchs has led numerous national and international clinical trials developing novel targeted therapies for GI malignancies and has published over 400 peer-reviewed manuscripts.
