Grand Rounds 11/8/13: Venous Thromboembolism

Lord_KakkaMedicine Grand Rounds on Fri., Nov. 8 at 8 a.m. in Duke Hospital room 2002 will feature Lord Ajay K. Kakkar, MBBS, PhD, FRCS, professor of surgery at the University College of London, director of the Thrombosis Research Institute in London, and chairman elect of the University College London Partners Academic Health Science System. Dr. Kakkar will present Venous Thromboembolism: The Landscape in 2013. Kakkar received his undergraduate medical education at Kings College London and his PhD from Imperial College London. His research interests are in the prevention and treatment of venous and arterial thromboembolic disease and cancer associated thrombosis. He was appointed to sit as an independent crossbench member of the House of Lords in 2010. He serves as Chairman of the House of Lords Appointments Commission and UK Business Ambassador for health care and life sciences.
