Henderson leads Durham VA Ambulatory Care Service

GIM Assistant Professor of Medicine, Wendy Henderson, MD, was recently appointed as the new Associate Chief of Staff for Ambulatory Care Services at the Durham VA Medical Center, effective January 6, 2019. 

“I first met Dr. Henderson during her residency in internal medicine at Duke, and it has been my great privilege to watch her grow as a physician and as a leader over the years since," says Kenneth Goldberg, MD, Durham VA Chief of Staff. Dr. Henderson has been with the Department of Veterans Affairs since July 2003.  Most recently she was the Medical Director of the Primary Care clinics in the 1F and 1D locations at the main facility.  She has served on numerous Medical Center committees and has been Chairperson of the Management of Information Council 2007-2014.  She has also participated in numerous academic activities

Dr. Henderson received both her undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Chemistry (with highest distinction) in 1996 and her Medical Doctor degree in 2000 at UNC Chapel Hill.  She completed her internal medicine residency 2000-2003 at Duke University.
