Internal Medicine Residency News, Dec. 14, 2020

From the Director

Last MED RES NEWS of 2020. It’s been a year for sure. While all the memes and whatnot can rant about the general awfulness of 2020, and I think we can certainly be glad to be thinking about better days, a lot of good has happened too. We’ve got a challenging set of weeks ahead, and I wouldn’t want to be facing it with anyone but our #DukeFam! Please pay attention to your emails for vaccine information!

Kudos to our amazing dancing chiefs Govind, Hannah,  Matt and Steph for the zoom holiday festivities as well as our super talented band Wheezer (Alex Grubb, Micah Schub and Daniel Bernstein). Many thanks also to Dani Zipkin for corralling the GME leadership into song. Nia says “if you can talk, you can sing,” but clearly she has never heard me.

Congratulations to Grandpa David Butterly (and Grandma Kay) on the birth of David Alexander Butterly! Looking forward to recruiting him to Duke Med Class of 2047.

Kudos
Kudos this week go to Sara Coles from Yoli Guzman for a  boss day in the VA ICUs, to Joyce Hwang, Matt Abbott and Sunny Chung from Jason Nam and Harvey Marshall for outstanding care of a longtime MICU patient, to Daniel Bernstein from Chris Asuzu for awesome work at DRH (and back to Chris from Daniel), to Matt Carlisle from Ashley Thrower for being a great CICU fellow, to Stacy Bagrova, Trent Wei and Lonnie Sullivan for an amazing LEADS conference, to Bhavik Patel for a stellar SAR talk and Hannah Florian for a fantastic Cohen Conference!

Thank you to our My Take teams of Ben Kellogg, DaMarcus Ingram, Matt Abbott, Cindy Pabon, Andrew Andreae, Lena Eder, Emmanuella Egbonim,   Caitlin Driscoll, Sunny Chung as well as our “dinner” teams of Gabriela Kraiter, Emily Romanoff, Yuxi Zheng, Amber Meservey,  SeaBass Franco, Stacy Bagrova, Alex Reddy, Lonnie Sullivan, Shannon Herndon, Emilio Guzman Cisneros, Neesha Nama, Ceshae Harding, Cassie Lautredou and Nate Harris.
