Internal Medicine Residency News, Feb. 8, 2021

From the Director

Happy FUN-bruary! Adopt-a-Resident is going great (thank you, faculty!), we got milkshakes to DRH (you may be across town, but you are ALWAYS in our hearts), we survived some HVAC and H20 issues at the VA with warm hearts and excellent care of patients, and we have our screening of Dr. Dale Okorodudu’s "Black Men in White Coats" this week! We also have our first “Intro to Fellowship” meeting with Dr. Hargett and me for rising SARs and fellowship-bound ABIM track JARs! Meeting to be repeated next week as well.

Kudos
Kudos this week go to Yuxi Zhang and Bhavik Patel from Vinay Choksi for being DRH rockstars, to Emory Buck, Kurren Mehta, JT Tanaka and Sean Taasan for helping teach MS1s at the Cancer Care elective (from Matt Labs), to Sebastian Estrada for being a great GM VA leader (from Larissa Rodriguez Homs), and also to Kurren, Bari Rosenberg, Ryan Slauer and Felicia Cao from Larissa for being amazing teammates. Also kudos to Ann Cameron Barr for a great Cohen Conference.

SUPER KUDOS TACOS to Ann Cameron Barr (with mentor Suchita Shah Sata) for the first annual Resident Teaching Competition! Congratulations to our winner, Michael Burt, as well as amazing competitors Alex Reddy and Ahmad Mourad. Also thanks to trainers Jenny Van Kirk, Louis Diehl and David Ortiz Melo, as well as judges Dr. Cooney, Dr. Criscione Schrieber and MSII Helen Tang. What a great new tradition!

Pubmed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Joyce Hwang for her review on COVID vaccines and cancer with Dr. Tian Zhang.

Have a great week!
Aimee
