Join faculty from General Internal Medicine this Fri., Feb. 24, at 7:15 a.m. for a special meet and greet (with coffee and pastries) before Medicine Grand Rounds and hear about the different career paths available in GIM.
Please send any of your news or kudos for your colleagues to Erin Payne.

Clinic Corner: Pickett Road
Contributed by Sharon Rubin, MD
Pickett Road has been going through staffing changes. Happy to add Helena as our new CMA and Cynthia as our new PSA. We celebrate Valentine's day with white flowers of friendship for our staff. We are planning for an early spring with planting flowers and vegetable garden by Pickett Road staff this spring. We are planning for a town hall of our Pickett Road patients as well this spring. Pickett Road is again taking the challenge of Transforming Primary Care. Our rooming staff is helping to schedule and check out patients in the room to help work flow. We now have our notary, Lavasia, for document needs! Inspired by Lauren, one of the CMAs, who donated > 11 inches of hair, Dr. Rubin and Rachel RN donated > 10 inches each of hair for Wigs for Kids.

Each proposal must have a Human subjects section that describes the protections of the patients and patient data, describe the consent procedure if applicable, status of IRB protocol (to be submitted, already submitted or already approved, as appropriate) etc. This section is required whether to not your project is a retrospective or prospective study, whether patient identifiers are exposed (or not) during data collection/analysis, whether consent is to be obtained or there is a waiver for consent. Please see attached example language that you can adapt to your own specific protocol after discussing with your research mentor.
The next opportunity to apply for a research grant will be in September 2017. For any questions, please contact murat.arcasoy@duke.edu.
