From the Director
What? One month in! Crazy! Congrats to all as we enter “block 2” - so far, so great! Dr. Butterly and I have enjoyed meeting 1:1 with the interns, it is awesome to see our JARs on NF, in the MICU, increasing that independence in clinic, leading VA GM and Cohen Conferences and our SARs giving talks, leading Duke and DRH GM and getting those fellowship/job applications in! I hear we hit a record with an interview offer 43 minutes after applications went live as well as almost 30 people signing up for interview practice with Dr. Kath Pollack - way to go everyone! It’s not too late to get a time with her if you haven’t signed up yet. Reach out to Kayla with questions
Congratulations to the Cavalier fam on the birth of Cooper! He’s adorable and all are doing well!
Kudos
Kudos this week to Aashutos Patel on fantastic VA cross cover from Jackie Kercheval, to Sarah Morgan from Dr. Paul Riordan for highlighting patient centered language in presentations, to Sandra Loriaux, Emory Buck, Sarah Moserowitz, Harsh Patolia and Mike Burt for the amazing Duke IM Wiki, to Courtney Richman from Anand Shah for fantastic work on a busy 9100 night, to the entire 9100 crew of Courtney Richman, Matt Townsend, Garret Johnson and Katie Jordan from Felicia Cao for a wonderful month, to Katie Centner from Kirsten Binz for a spectacular 2 weeks on VA GM, from James Helzberg to Emory Buck for recognition and management of a patient with VT, and from Bari Rosenberg to Amanda Broderick for stellar family centered care in the Duke MICU!
Pubmed from the Program
This weeks Pubmed from the program highlights our fantastic alum Dr. Meredith Clement, now an NIH K23 funded HIV prevention investigator at LSU for her recent guest appearance on the ID podcast Febrile discussing PreP! Highly recommended for a great listen.
Have a great week!

Ambulatory Schedules
The ambulatory schedules are a compilation of thousands of moving parts and errors do happen! Thank you for rolling with changes if they’ve affected you. Please share all questions with Nancy Yang and Dani Zipkin!
Academic Half Day
AHD matches the threads you are on – interns hear talks from nephrology, rheumatology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, and gastroenterology. JARs hear talks from cardiology, pulmonary, hematology, and oncology. SARs get boards review with Anne Phelps. The sessions are back at the VA like in the old days, and we are working to manage conflicts that may arise in the conference rooms, as we do have them booked all year. Please share feedback on this process with Dani Zipkin!
