From the Director

Hi Everyone!

It's physical exam week at noon conference! Thank you to Murat Arcasoy for putting together a great set of conferences - we are now in our 7th year! Friday we also had some outstanding professional development talks from Schuyler Jones, Nilesh Patel, Angela Lowenstern and Andrea Sitlinger for interviews with the SARS, from Alyson McGhan and Jenn Rymer on mentoring for the JARs and from Matt Crowley on making the most of residency for the interns. Thanks to all for your help!

Kudos

Kudos this week to Irena Tan and Chris Pumill from Brian Schneider for being awesome VA JARs. Kudos to Ben Ranard from Suchita Shah Sata for awesome continuity of care on night float. Also to Anubha Agarwal and Paul Riordan for excellent SAR talks and to Sipa Yankey for organizing turkey bowl practices!

PubMed from the Program

This week's pubmed from the program goes to Ankeet Bhatt and colleagues for the publication of their article entitled "Adverse Remodeling and Reverse Remodeling After Myocardial Infarction." Ankeet S. Bhatt, Andrew P. Ambrosy, and Eric J. Velazquez.

Please be sure to look at the calendar for August - lots of fun activities coming up!

Have a great week!

Aimee

Clinic Corner: Ambulatory

Contributed by Daniella Zipkin

Welcome Dinushika!!
As you all have noticed, Dinushika has hit the ground running with solidifying your ambulatory experience. She is behind the scenes building new ambulatory clinic opportunities at the VA and Duke clinics, thinking big about our ambulatory curriculum overall, and focusing on resident wellness, among so many other things. Thank you for your hard work and passion, Dinushika!

The year is rolling!
Interns have been settling in to their sites and learning the ropes. We appreciate the staff at all three clinics who have been navigating lots of changes in schedules and formats! If you have questions about anything in your clinic schedule, please email Dinushika and Dani Zipkin.

New Ambulatory Evaluation System
Each ambulatory block, you guys are asked to identify who you worked with the most – At places like the DOC, this can be tricky because of the volume of preceptors. Soon, we will be moving to a TIERED evaluation system. Attendings you work with here and there will be able to fill out brief evaluation forms, and then three times per year these will be collected into the longer milestone evaluations. AS ALWAYS – your attendings love feedback from you as well, so you are always welcome to initiate an evaluation to share your thoughts, both positive and constructive.

Want to shape the ambulatory curriculum?
We are getting ready to meet to discuss big picture questions with our ambulatory education mission. Email Dani Zipkin if you’d like to get involved!
