From the Director

AHHHH! It is Victory Lap week for our beloved chiefs! What an awesome kudos and taco worthy Grand Rounds to cap off an, ahem, unprecedented year. Stop by their offices for high fives, hugs and thanks. You are such legacies.

Congratulations to our SARs Payton Kendsersky and Jon Reichstein on their wedding!

Kudos
Kudos this week to Nathan Hirshman for amazing help in the Duke MICU (from Hayley Cunningham.  Supermeta kudos to our fourth quarter taco champs Hayley Cunningham, Grace Lee and Emory Buck! Also kudos to Komal Safdar for JAR-like work on 9100 (From Grace Lee), to Yoli Guzman from Cindy Pabon for being a great CCU buddy, to Erin Song for an awesome Cohen Conference, and to Sarah Coles, Micah Schub and Ruchi Doshi for a fantastic LEADs discussion.

Thanks to everyone for their patience and extra step counting as the DCT opened up last week! We will all be getting used to different layouts and pathways to get to take great care of our patients and your communication is much appreciated!

Pubmed from the Program
This weeks pubmed from the program goes to Alex Grubb for his paper “Drugs of Abuse and Heart Failure” published in the Journal of Cardiac Failure June 2021 with mentors and team of Stephen Greene, Murat Fudim, Tracy Dewald and Rob Mentz.

Have a great week!
Aimee

Clinic Corner: Pickett

Contributed by Jeff Clough

At Pickett Road we have begun implementing a program to better address the social determinants of health, championed by Dr. Nastassia Schenkel and our Population Health Nurse Karen Nielsen.  This includes a comprehensive screening questionnaire for all patients and referrals to appropriate community resource programs through NCCARE360.
