From the Director
We are almost to March Madness! (and someone tells me Zion may be back?). Regardless of the outcome Saturday night, I'm glad there was a fantastic turn out at the Hoops Watch. Sorry to miss it (youth soccer apparently stops for nothing). I am really looking forward to celebrating MATCH WEEK with our amazing program and welcoming our new intern class on Friday! There was a great turnout at the first #proudtobeGIM event with faculty from Duke and UNC! What an awesome idea!
Congratulations to the Medical Students on their successful Student-Faculty show this weekend! Saumil Chudgar always has a great role, and there was a cameo by Dr. Cooney!
Congratulations to Eric and Alice Wei on the birth of Adalyn! Everyone is doing great!
Some housekeeping announcements
- SARs: Make sure you have registered for boards and that you are getting going on all the licensing and other paperwork for your fellowships and jobs! Please keep working on those procedure logs as well.
- JARs: Ernest will do the sign up for fellowship meetings this week, and Bill and I will get the updated packet emailed out as well.
- Interns: You’ve got this! Meet with me or Murat about mentorship whenever you can in the coming months.
Kudos
Lots of kudos this week – certainly to my amazing Gen Med team of Tessa Genders, Josh Parsons, Lauren Pontius and med students David Jones and Stephanie Skove. Also more kudos to Cameron Oswalt from Matt Labriola for his great work on DRH nights, to Alex Sullivan from Holly Causey at the DOC for above and beyond patient-centered care, to Steph Garbarino and Talisha Ramchal from Kara for teaching and advancing care as the VA dayfloats, to Joe Plaksin from Valerie Ranard for being really gracious about taking a late admission, to the CCU crew of Sara Coles, Dagmara Danek, Daphne Xiao, James Deardorff, Kevin Friede, Lauren Truby, and Ajar Kochar for great work on a very busy time in the CCU, to Lara Hayes from Kim Osborne on 7800 for her amazing work as the pulm consultant, and to Anthony Horton for his stellar work on 9100 nights. Also kudos to Alie Mara for an awesome chair’s conference and to Austin and Lonnie, and PA student Ankita Dubey, for great patient care and the perfect amount of sass on VA gen med from Kara!
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to our graduate Marcus Ruopp whose essay in Annals of Internal Medicine is trending all over #medtwitter.
Have a great week!
Aimee
