From the Director
Bring on more recruitment! Thank you to our tour guides (Jordan Gales, Keva Garg, Dennis Narcisse), our My Take team (Dennis Narcisse, Hayley Cunningham, James Helzberg and Alex Grubb), our MRRC team (Chris Asuzu, Tamara Saint-Surin, Marius Chukwurah, Nadia Yimer and Cindy Pabon) and all who chatted with our applicants. Also kudos to Anthony Horton and Jordan Gales for res report and Callie Berkowitz for Chair’s conference!
Thank you to Dr. Cooney, Dr. St. Clair and Dr. Simel for tickets to football and basketball for our residents!
In other business, I'm looking forward to the SAR party at our home on Friday night (thanks for bidding on this gathering at last year's Charity Auction)!
A couple more notes
- Don’t forget to put your match list into the NRMP.
- Get ready to sign up for your semi-annual meeting with Dr. Hargett or myself – a chance to review where you are and set goals for where you want to go! Ernest will be sending out a doodle poll for you to sign up.
Kudos
Kudos this week go to Eric Wei and Tsion Aberra for managing a very busy night at the VA, to Nick Kamp from Colby Feeney for outstanding Gen Med leadership, and to the following residents for making Chair’s Conference stellar:
- Alie Mara: Proposed prior abiraterone use as a cause of both hematuria and lower extremity edema.
- Madhu Eluri: Offered up May-Thurner syndrome as another potential cause of lower extremity edema. Some people didn’t even know how to spell it.
- Alex Sullivan: Pointed us in the direction of hematologic disorders, with potential diagnoses including protein c/s and antithrombin 3 deficiency.
- Alex Grubb: Proposed a mixing study as the next best step for a patient with unexplained prolonged PTT.
- Bhavik Patel: Provided a spot-on summary sentence.
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to all of the Duke residents and alumni representing at the LIVER MEETING! Kudos and congrats to our emerging liver scholars Lauren Donnangelo, Nancy Yang and Diana Mosquera! See all the pics from the liver meeting, plus some DukeFam reunions (spotted at the liver meeting are alums Ankeet Bhatt and Ashley Spann!)
Have a great week!
