From the Director
It’s recruitment season! Looking forward to showing our outstanding applicants why Duke IM is the best program in the country! We had a great time hosting the recruitment kickoff party Friday night – thanks for making the trip to Raleigh (or as I like to say, “It’s not that far..”). Please pay attention to the emails from Kayla regarding dinners, tours, My Take, etc., and see below for the schedule for lunches with applicants.
Belated congratulations to David and Brittany Elliott on the birth of Callum!
Kudos
Kudos this week go to Alex Reddy for a fantastic chair’s conference (with expert commentary by the legendary Dr. Gurpreet Dhaliwal), to Kyle Geurink for an outstanding SAR talk, to Hannah Robinson from Tammy Hsu for being a fun team leader on VA Gen Med and striking the perfect balance of support and autonomy, to Karina Mora and Sunny Chung from Dennis Narcisse for stellar work on Duke GM, also to Karina Mora for her above and beyond work for a very sick patient, and to our grads Alana Lewis, Jordan Pomeroy and Anubha Agarwal for presenting at the Northwestern Cardiovascular Fellows Symposium (with Alana winning a research award!)
PubMed from the Program
This week’s pubmed from the program goes to Austin Wesevich for his awards from the NMRPA (National Med-Peds Residents Association) and from The Beryl Institute's 2019 Patient Experience Research Grant to fund the "Patient-Centered Daily Plan Pilot Program," which centers on improving the communication between patients and trainees as well as enhancing their experiences to lead to a more enjoyable and fruitful hospitalization. Collaborators include Juliette Logan and Dr. Thomas LeBlanc!
Have a great week!
Aimee
