From the Director

A great weekend for Turkey Bowl practice! Glad to see Ani Kumar kicking off the trash talk (even if he was making fun of Med Res News). Hope everyone had a chance to be outdoors at least for a little bit.

Survey says!

We started our first round of coach training for the Faculty Resident Coaching Program on Friday with guest Kerri Palamara McGrath from MGH, with two more sessions happening this afternoon! For those of you who were able to make it to her noon conference, she gave an overview of the program for residents. Today, you should be receiving your Coach Preference Form. Please take the time to fill this out—we can do a much better job matching you with your coach if you give us some information. This does coincide with the 2016 Engagement Survey as well. We hate to crowd your inbox but both of these are really important and take just a few minutes to fill out.  Thanks to those who have already completed the Engagement Survey, and in advance for those who plan to fill it out ASAP.

Noon Conference

I am almost done compiling the Noon Conference attendance data from September, and I will be sending out the reports this week to you all and to the rotation directors so that they can see how well they are doing at encouraging and supporting attendance from the various rotations. Don’t forget to sign in with Tia so that the data is accurate.

Get your running shoes ready for the Stead Tread 5K (rain date!) this weekend! It’s not too late to sign up.

Kudos

Kudos this week to Chris Henderson from a patient and his family for outstanding care, and to Liz Gunnar Hoffman and Lauren Sharan from Lakshmi Krishnan for great work on 9100, as well as to Maggie Infeld for a fantastic SAR talk.

PubMed from the Program

This week’s Pubmed from the Program goes to our Stead Grant recipients and their mentors: Helen Zhang (Mehri McKellar), Stephen Kimani (Peter Kussin), Zach Il’Giovine (Zainab Samad), Megan Dupuis (Yubin Kang), Landon Brown (Julia Scialla), AJ Blood (Richard Krasuski), Ankeet Bhatt (Rob Mentz), and Anubha Agarwal (Nathan Thielman). Thank you to the Stead Scholarship Fund for their generous support and also our reviewers, as well as Murat Arcasoy for coordinating the submissions, review and mentorship!

Have a great week,

Aimee

Clinic Corner: Pickett Road

September and October have brought a lot of change. We said good bye to our Pediatrics colleagues and our lab. Our nursing staff has stepped up and taken over the phlebotomy and lab processing. Residents will be improving our microscopy skills to the lab to look at our own wet preps, urines and skin samples. We welcomed Dr. Cecily Pederson to the outpatient world as well; we look forward to having her precept in January 2017. We celebrated Purple for Platelets September 30th. A team went to the PNC arena for the Triangle heart walk. We are wearing pink pins and using pink pens for October Breast Cancer Awareness and will celebrate Mammogram Day October 21.
