Highlights from the Internal Medicine Residency Program for the week of April 3-10, below the fold.
News:
There has been a significant increase in the QI module completion rate following the patient safety conference earlier this week. New proposals for practice partnerships have been submitted and will be voted on this following week.
The Medical Residency Office is revising its policies on approval of residents to participate in TSMA as follows:
The program fully supports Duke's policies regarding moonlighting as delineated in the Trainee Manual and Benefit Guide found on the GME website.
At no time may the hours allocated for TSMA activities negatively impact training or violate duty hour policies.
Residents who would like to be considered for Temporary Special Medical Activity (TSMA) on the 9300 or Student Health must meet the following:
- Program level - either JAR or SAR
- Successful completion of rotations on MICU and Gen Med
- Be in good standing and without any active corrective action
- Provide written support from their advisor that they support the trainee's request. The advisor may send an email to the attention of the Program Director, copy to the Program Coordinator, confirming their approval (to be completed prior to initiating the online TSMA form).
- Initiate the online TSMA form found on MedHub.
