Congratulations to everyone who participated in the 5th annual Stead Tread 5K Run/Walk, which was held on Sat., Oct. 22, on the American Tobacco Trail.
The Stead Tread is organized by the Duke Internal Medicine Residency Program. All proceeds benefit the Lincoln Community Health Center, a clinic dedicated to meeting the health care needs of medically underserved patients in Durham.
The Stead Tread is named for Dr. Eugene Stead, chair of the Duke Department of Medicine from 1947-1967 and namesake of the Stead Academic Societies, organizations within the Duke Internal Medicine Residency Program dedicated to community service and academic excellence.
The Kempner Society, led by Matt Crowley, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Endocrinology, Metabolism and Nutrition), organizes the Stead Tread each year. Since the first Stead Tread in 2012, the Kempner Society has raised more than $25,000 for Lincoln Community Health Center.
