Joseph Rogers to be interim chair of the Department of Medicine

Mary Klotman, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, announced today that Joseph Rogers, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology, has agreed to serve as interim chair of the Department of Medicine upon Dr. Klotman's becoming dean of the School of Medicine, effective July 1, 2017.

"I wanted to make sure that the Department would be in great hands for this transition, and with Joe it clearly will," she wrote to the department's faculty, trainees, and staff.

Dr. Rogers is currently Senior Vice Chair of the Department assisting Klotman across the three missions. In addition, he is Associate Chief Medical Officer of the Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC), where he is helping lead the PDC clinical growth over the next five years. Rogers recently served as interim chief of the Division of Cardiology.

"In these roles, Joe has shown a detailed understanding of the missions and activities of the Department. I’m confident he will be a strong steward and advocate for the Department," said Kltoman.

Klotman will begin to transfer some of the responsibilities and duties of the Department to Rogers over the next few months.
