Mary Klotman, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, has formed a search committee that will be charged with identifying the very best candidates for the role of chief of the Division of Cardiology.
The committee will be chaired by Thomas Ortel, MD, PhD, chief of the Division of Hematology.
"I appreciate the very large number of faculty who volunteered to be on the committee," said Dr. Klotman. "While the work of the committee limits its size, the nominating and vetting process of candidates should be a shared function of the cardiovascular community."
Klotman and Ortel ask faculty to send candidate recommendations using this online form.
"Over the summer, I spoke with a number of Division of Cardiology leaders and faculty members, and I heard many ambitious ideas for Cardiology’s sustained and future success. I welcome further input as we go through this process," said Klotman.

The Department of Medicine at the Duke University Health System is seeking candidates for Chief of the Division of Cardiology. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a large and outstanding division of researchers, educators and clinicians, and to interact with robust clinical programs at Duke in all facets of cardiovascular disease, including Duke Clinical Research Institute, Duke Cardiovascular Research Center, Duke Heart Center and a major cardiac transplant program. Candidates should have demonstrated a high level of administrative and clinical research, and be able to outline a visionary future for the clinical, research and training missions of the division. Applicants for this position should be eligible for appointment at the Professor level (tenure track) at Duke University Medical Center.
