Lantos at IDWeek 2018

IDWeek 2018 took place in San Francisco from October 3 to 7. This was the annual scientific meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, the HIV Medicine Association and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. This year's event attracted over 8,000 professional attendees to hear the latest research and among them was Paul Lantos, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and of Pediatrics. Lantos was honored to give two presentations during the conference.

"Just Your Average Day in a Pediatric Infectious Disease Clinic" - October 4, 2018
Lantos joined 2 other presenters for this session. He spoke specifically about the management of a child with lyme disease. The others addressed teenagers with post-infectious fatigue and the approach to a child with periodic fever.

"New and Updated Guidelines" - October 4, 2018
During this session Dr. Lantos discussed diagnostic approaches to Lyme disease and evidence-based therapeutics. Another speaker addressed asymptomatic bacteriuria and a third spoke about the recognition of appropriate patients for outpatient oral antibiotic therapy.

Dr. Lantos is a medicine hospitalist in the division of general internal medicine, a clinician-educator, and pediatric infectious diseases attending. He was recently named as a Chair for the Duke IRB.
