Leadership opp: Vice dean of clinical sciences at Duke-NUS

Michael Merson, MD, vice chancellor for Duke-NUS affairs, and Patrick J . Casey, PhD, senior vice dean for research at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore, invite applicants with an MBBS, MD or equivalent, and a stellar record of leadership in clinical and translational research, to apply for the position of vice dean of clinical sciences at Duke-NUS. This position reports to the Dean of Duke-NUS. The incumbent provides the leadership of clinical research programs with particular focus on education, training and career development of clinician scientists at Duke-NUS and its partner in academic medicine, SingHealth. Major Programs of the Office of Clinical Sciences are:
  1. Center for Quantitative Medicine. The incumbent oversees the activities and budget allocations for the Center, which currently contains 12 regular rank and 21 adjunct faculty.
  2. Khoo Scholars Program. This Program engages young doctors who wish to develop patient-oriented research careers. The Program also provides pilot project research funds.
  3. Third Year Medical Student (MS-3) Research Seminar/Mentoring Program. This Program oversees clinical science projects of medical students, and provides training in the essentials of clinical epidemiology, biostatistics, and clinical trial design.
The individual will also serve as Executive Director of the Academic Medicine Research Institute. Major Cores of the Academic Medicine Research Institute are:
  1. Education, Training and Career Development
  2. Quantitative Sciences
  3. Clinical and Behavioral Assessment
