We are pleased to announce the promotion of one of our faculty members. Dr. Jennifer Gutierrez McCarty has been promoted to Assistant Professor, effective December 1, 2019.
Jennifer McCarty, MD
Dr. Jennifer Gutierrez McCarty joined Duke GIM and has served as a Medical Instructor in the Department since June 2017. As a hospitalist at the Durham VA Medical Center, she has served as a faculty attending on the General Medicine service, supervising and educating Duke residents, medical students, and PA students. Dr. Gutierrez McCarty is very supportive of the Durham VA facility, performing peer reviews, serving as a medical consultant for surgery and psychiatry residents, and reviewing outside hospital transfers to facilitate safe patient movement to the facility. Currently, she is starting to partner with our outpatient mental health colleagues to improve and standardize our inpatient treatment of emergency narcotic withdrawal.
