Saumil Chudgar, MD, assistant professor of medicine (Hospital Medicine), received the 2012 Duke Medical School Golden Apple Award for Clinical Science Faculty. The award, presented last Friday during the annual Student-Faculty Show, recognizes physician-teachers that the medical students feel have played an exceptionally effective and dedicated role in their education. "This is a great achievement for Saumil and it is not a surprise, given how totally dedicated he is to our mission of education in hospital medicine," said David Gallagher, MD, chief of the Hospital Medicine Programs. "He has been fantastic in helping develop faculty within our group with their teaching skills and in developing new opportunities for learners with inpatient medicine." This is the second year in a row that the medical students have honored Dr. Chudgar. Last year, they gave him the Thomas Kinney MD Distinguished Teaching Award.
