MedBlue Incubator accepting proposals, deadline is March 15

 

MedBlue Incubator Inc. is a for-profit entity founded by and initially capitalized by the Duke University School of Medicine departments of Surgery, Pathology and Anesthesiology, and that now includes the Duke departments of Medicine, Neurosurgery and Orthopedics. Its mission is to identify and assist in the development of promising ideas, discoveries, innovations, and/or technologies from the faculty that have commercial potential.

Selected projects receive seed funding, assistance with SBIR and other grant applications, collaborations with corporate entities, formation of spin-out companies and eventual liquidity events.

Proposals for MedBlue funding should include the following elements:

  • Brief introduction of overall scope
  • Technology description
  • Development status and proposed milestones
  • Commercial opportunity
  • IP status
  • Potential sources for future funding such as government grants (e.g. SBIR/STTR, NC Bio), strategic partners, prospective investors, etc.
  • A yearly budget up to $75,000

The overall proposal should not exceed 5 pages in length
