Media relations support for DCI, oncology

By Anton Zuiker
Doug Stokke, associate vice president for Duke Medicine News and Communications, announced to Duke Cancer Institute administration and faculty that  Sarah Avery, the health and medicine reporter for the News & Observer for the past 11 years, will be joining the Duke Medicine News & Communications group. She will be focused primarily on media relations work supporting oncology (she replaces Michelle Gailiun, who many of you worked with in that role prior to Michelle's retirement in December). Avery will start at Duke March 21, and will touch base with Medical Oncology faculty when she arrives. Should you have any publications/presentations or other news opportunities arise between now and March 21, please reach out directly to Debbe Geiger in the News & Communications Office at 919-660-9461 or Anton Zuiker, communications director for the Dept. of Medicine, at 919-613-4310.
