Mitchell quoted in MedScape article on weight loss in married couples

DGIM Assistant Professor, Nia S. Mitchell, MD, MPH, was quoted recently in a Medscape online article, February 6, 2018: “Weight Loss in Married Couples Shows 'Ripple Effect'.” The story references a recent study published in Obesity earlier this month, noting the weight loss "ripple effect" - finding untreated spouses of those making an effort to lose weight can experience weight loss, too!

It is no surprise that our own Dr. Mitchell was invited to comment, given her primary research focus on obesity and weight management. She explains how a partner can lose weight when the person who buys and prepares food begins a weight-loss program, then "people in the house tend to eat differently," she said.
