New chief strategy officer joins DUHS

Today Chancellor Victor J. Dzau, MD, president and CEO of Duke University Health System, announced that Sandra Danoff joined Duke Medicine as of Jan. 2 as senior vice president for organizational transformation and chief strategic planning and business development officer. In his message to School of Medicine faculty, Dzau said Danoff comes to Duke after a 23-year career at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where she served as senior vice president of strategic planning and special projects. During her tenure at UPMC, Danoff also served as chief communications officer, senior associate to the president and director of corporate planning and marketing. "Sandra will lead and coordinate the development and execution of our comprehensive strategic plan for the health system," Dzau said. She will lead "institutional efforts to optimally configure Duke Medicine to successfully address the challenges and seize the opportunities that will exist in the rapidly and fundamentally changing environment for academic health centers." Danoff will work closely with the schools of medicine and nursing, clinical faculty leadership and the PDC, and senior leadership.
