New Faculty Spotlight: Allison Bolton, MD

In October 2016, Allison Bolton, MD, became a faculty member in the Division of General Internal Medicine. She is a clinician-educator and Hospitalist at Duke University Hospital.

Dr. Bolton chose internal medicine because she likes taking care of patients as a whole and will "never in a million years get bored with the complexity and variability this field brings."

"I love inpatient medicine and am excited to be a part of Duke!" Allison Bolton, MD

She came to us from a community hospital in South Mississippi where she gained experience working as a hospitalist. Dr. Bolton and her family were drawn to Duke because her husband, Will, began his Endocrine fellowship at Duke. They have two children, Addie and Charlie.

"Addie is my creative and drama filled 4-year-old and Charlie is a 2-year-old rascal," says Bolton.

Outside of the hospital setting, Dr. Bolton loves to cook as well as go boating and fishing. "Before moving here, we would go fishing/boating on the Gulf every chance we got. Now that we are in North Carolina, I'm looking forward to finding fun new ways to enjoy this gorgeous weather," she says.
