NIH announces revised application submission dates

By etm18@dhe.duke.edu
The National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation on Friday published additional announcements concerning the restarting of essential functions in light of the end of the government shutdown. The NIH posted revised application submission dates as well as information on the rescheduling of peer review group meetings. NIH reports that during the shutdown it canceled over 200 peer review meetings, affecting the review of over 11,000 applications. Here are a few key dates for grant submissions with more information posted on the NIH website. Please note the DoM-RA and ORA deadlines: Screen Shot 2013-10-22 at 10.03.40 AM Screen Shot 2013-10-22 at 10.07.35 AM Please review the notice carefully as it specifically addresses the following:
  • Processing of Applications Submitted During the Shutdown – Essentially, those applications submitted since Oct. 1 have been held at Grants.gov and will still have a 2-day validation window on Oct. 22 and Oct. 23. Applicants are encouraged to check Commons proactively.
  • Replacing of Applications Submitted During the Shutdown – Since ORA elected to hold submissions routing after the shutdown in Grants.duke, the option to “Refresh” or “Replace” an application submitted to Grants.gov during the shutdown will not affect many applicants within SoM. However, for those submissions to federal entities besides the NIH, please refer to the agency-specific web site for more information.
The National Science Foundation is posting updates for resumption of operations on its website.
