Duke University’s Office of Global Strategy and Programs welcomes nominations for individuals to serve as Von der Heyden Fellows. These individuals should be highly prominent international decision makers from such fields as business, government, public life, law, and academics willing to engage with the Duke University community. More specifically, the fellows should:
- challenge our students and faculty to reach a better understanding of public life which they can incorporate into their learning and teaching and their roles as citizens and societal leaders;
- offer the fellows the opportunity to step back from the daily flow of their work, to reflect on its relationship to the broader context of cultural, economic, political and societal developments, and to interact with those in the Duke community with expertise in areas of knowledge relevant to their concerns; and
- foster Duke University’s visibility and reputation in the international community through publicity regarding the fellow’s participation at Duke.
