Jeffrey Peppercorn, MD, MPH, associate professor of medicine (Medical Oncology), will be leaving Duke effective December 2014 to join the faculty of Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners Health System, where he will serve as director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Survivorship Program. During his affiliation with the Duke Cancer Institute, Dr. Peppercorn helped launch the new Duke Cancer Institute Survivorship Center, while also continuing his focus on oncology bioethics and health policy research. In a message to faculty and staff of the Duke Cancer Insitute, James Abbruzzese, MD, chief of the Division of Medical Oncology, and Kimberly Blackwell, MD, director of the Duke Breast Cancer Program, praised Peppercorn as an excellent clinician, colleague and mentor, and as one who will be greatly missed. Peppercorn is returning to his personal and professional roots in Boston, having lived in the Boston area for over 30 years before his move to North Carolina in 2005. He completed his internal medicine residency at MGH and fellowship in hematology/Oncology in the Dana-Farber/Partners fellowship program.
